Our scientists were tasked with developing a non-PFAS, plant-based, breathable and waterproof membrane. A new system has been developed that uses molecular diffusion, rather than micropores, to expel water vapor and thus maintain a barrier against water drops. The ability of this membrane to stratify within a technical fabric and resist stretching, washing and use due to outdoor sports is absolutely unprecedented. Furthermore, this new technology, being devoid of micropores, cannot even risk becoming blocked and losing performance in terms of breathability.
EXPEDITION-GRADE PROTECTION
POWER SHIELD IS POLARTEC'S FIRST EXPEDITION-GRADE PROTECTIVE TECHNOLOGY.
Expedition-grade refers to the degree of expedition commonly associated with garments capable of withstanding over 20,000 mm of hydrostatic pressure. Fundamental is the protection from atmospheric agents such as intense and prolonged rains, snow and strong winds, but at the same time breathability. Power Shield is as breathable as it is waterproof: it is possible to combine its hydrostatic pressure of over 20,000 mm 1 with a breathability of over 20,000 g/m2/24 hours.
